First off, I personally have a bias towards Puma. They are a large shoe company, but they don’t feel like it. I don’t feel like they dominate the space and therefore have a monopoly like other shoe companies such as the one based in Oregon. I have never owned nor purchased a pair of Nikes in my life. But, enough about them.
These Pumas are extremely comfortable. They are of the knitted variety. So, they really do feel like you are slipping on a pair of socks. I usually wear them around town, but they also make great gym shoes. I feel like they breathe well, are easy to put on or off and are versatile at the gym for eliptical work, treadmill work, walking and for warming up on the basketball court. I haven’t been invited to play in a pick up game for at least 7 years, so I couldn’t tell you if you can actually play basketball in them without spraining all of your ankles.
On-the-go Shoes
I don’t want to gloss over the point about them being easy to put on. As a dad of some younger age turdles, I have to be able to get in and out of the house quickly. I also don’t want to be stuck with wearing flip-flops out of the house all the time. Doing so in the winter for one is not comfortable and flip-flops are terrible for flat-footers like myself.
With these Pumas, I can quickly slide my feet in, and simply pull the back loop to get them to full slide past my heel. I normally cut the laces and tie them off, so I don’t have to worry about tying my shoes. Tying shoes seems like such an unnecessary task.
A lot of color options
What I have noticed is that Puma offers a lot of color ways for their sneakers. I went with the Rock Ridge-aquifer color way. I like that the sole is not white. White soles seems to get dirty too fast and really makes your shoe look ragged. The light aqua blue goes real well with the sandy tan tone.
